Day 4 – I Am Righteous

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor. 5:21).
What does righteous mean? When we are in Christ, we are washed clean by His blood. We are justified by Him and not justified by self. The word righteous is “right standing.” This means we are declared justified. We should look at ourselves as “just-as-if-ied never sinned.” Just as if we never did any of the bad things we did.
This thought of God’s love plan is overwhelming. It is amazing to think that the guilt and shame of my past is gone. The guilty conscience from all the cheating, lying, stealing, conning is gone. I am free from my past shame. He is not condemning me. He has declared me free of all charges. I am free to go. All fines are paid in full. I am now innocent. There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
He makes you clean. He makes you royal. He gives you dignity. He makes you righteous enough to have fellowship with the King of Kings. He makes you royal enough to go to heaven’s inner courts and chambers when you die.
Have you ever seen “Ever After” with Drew Barrymoore and Hugh Jackman? Hugh is a rich prince searching for a bride. He is forbidden to marry any other than his social class. He can’t marry a commoner. This would totally be out of the question. Drew is a commoner who pretends to be a princess through the movie. In the end, Hugh’s love for her causes him to search for her among the peasants. When he finds her, even here in the slums and poverty, she can’t believe that he loves her. Hugh marries Drew and gives her royal, dignity, and makes her a citizen of a new class. This is what it means to be made righteous.
Christ came and rescued us out of the slums. He delivered us from peasantry and gave us a royal, dignified position that is right. We are crowned with righteousness through Christ’s love plan.

Meditate for five minutes on this lesson.

Journal one whole page.  Encourage! Share some love.

Pray this Prayer: Father, thank You for sending your precious Son to take my place as sin. Help me live in the truth that You were made sin for me that I could be made righteous in You. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
